I found the Bitstream settings - all inputs are set to Bitstream. Where are you setting the bitstream settings in the TV?ĮDIT: Nevermind. I don't get this issue when I use a traditional AVR setup once I set it as 7.1 it stays so maybe its perhaps something with the eARC / TV being in the middle. I thought the ARC would be telling the TV what it supports and the TV would be passing that back to the PC. Interesting that your PC is correctly showing the supported formats only and mine isn't. Thanks for the reply! Very similar setup though. If you leave PCM, it's most likely reverting to stereo only. Make sure to set TV HDMI IN to bitstream and OUT to Passthrough. If I watch DD+ 5.1 movies, I can hear sound around me, if I play game with surround, I can hear things around me. In real content surround works fine, or as fine as I think it should. If I play DD+ content it's detected as such.Īnother thing to note is that upon startup PC sometimes reverts back to Stereo output, no clue why, but this is not SONOS issue, as it was happening to me with Sony soundbar as well, both on LG and Sony TV's. If I select Dolby Atmos for HT, Sonos app detects it as Dolby Multtichannel 7.1 until I start up content that is actually passing Atmos, then it shows Dolby Atmos. I might be wrong here and maybe it should detect side firing speakers as side surrounds, but it doesn't for now and that might as well be Sonos issue.Īnother thing I noticed is that if I select 5.1 or 7.1, Sonos app thinks it's 7.1. What I noticed is that side surrounds are not detected in sound tests, which is correct, since you can only add rears. Thing is, PC doesn't really know if your audio device has side or rear speakers, but for 5.1 you can choose either setup model. I can choose stereo, 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos for HT. PC shows only Dolby encoded format support (which is correct since CX doesn't support DTS). My setup is a bit different, I have Win10, RTX 2080, LG CX and Sonos ARC. I can't help but think this is a thought-out decision on Sonos's part, doubt it will get fixed from them. Odd that ARC doesn't use the side-firing speakers as SR, SL, and the Surrounds as RR, RL but perhaps the RR and RL don't get used as often and wouldn't be as good acoustically. Rears were added in 7.1 if I'm not mistaken. I suppose this might be better though as ARC + Surrounds is technically 5.1, and using Windows L,R,C,SR,SL is what 5.1 has always been. Figured it would at least use the side speakers on the Arc at some point. The one thing is ARC Surrounds are identified as the Side Surrounds channels instead of Rears. DTS is entirely out since they don't support DTS period.Īs long as it's Dolby format it should come through on the Sonos, and it will only come in at whatever format the content is mixed in.Īll you really need to do is make sure you have the Dolby Atmos app installed on Windows and set your speaker config to Dolby Atmos. Netflix shows Atmos support on the title which it wouldnt do if it didn't think it could play it, but I think the Sonos App shows it as PCM 5.1. I did install the Dobly Atmos app and tested Netflix and that seems to work OK I think. Also trying to enable 7.1 in the speaker config - nothing stays after you enable them, just seems like it only allows Front L,R enabled in 7.1 mode. Windows Sound control detects all formats available which is incorrect and the test tones fails horribly - the surrounds didn't work at all. Just wondering if anyone is running a gaming/HTPC with a Pascal card into their LG C9 and then Arc using eARC and what their experience is like?
